Our RT-PCR Covid-19 test

image of healthcare work er performing the fast COVID-19 PCR test

GOLD STANDARD

The RT-PCR test for COVID-19 is the most accurate and reliable test for diagnosing COVID-19.

Also called the molecular test

The RT-PCR test is also sometimes called a molecular test and detects genetic material of the virus using a lab technique called polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Turnaround time for results

We partner with high complexity labs for accurate and reliable COVID-19 RT-PCR test and perform in house RT-PCR tests with CLIAA certification.  If you choose same day results and test in the morning your results will be back the same day (within 12-14 hours).  Next day testing provides results within 24-36 hours or the next evening.  So for example, if you test on Monday for next day results your results would be back on Tuesday evening.

Best time to test

A positive test means you likely have COVID-19. A negative test means you probably did not have COVID-19 at the time of the test. This test is best used at day 3-7 days of symptoms if you are symptomatic.  For travel screening please coordinate timing of test and your results with your flight appropriately.   For medical questions about results of your test, please contact your primary care physician. More information about our test and other FAQs here

When I book an appointment, what the next steps to getting my test?

First, thank you for booking with us! Second you will receive an email with a few questions regarding where to test you, whether you need to include passport information on your results.  If you are using our home testing service, our mobile phlebotomist will contact you to confirm day and time of testing.  For some locations we mail you a test kit for our mobile phlebotomist to use but we will inform you if that is necessary.  Our mobile phlebotomist will test you on the day you requested and send us the testing kit. We will have your results sent to you via secure email the next evening after testing. So for example if you test on Monday, your results will be back on Tuesday evening.

Do you test on the weekends?

Some of our in-office locations will test on the weekend but only for the same day result option.  Please call for this option.

Will the PCR test that DM Covid-19 Test offers, meet the current CDC guideline for international air

THE RT-PCR test that we send to our CAP accredited, CLIAA certified labs is the standard test that meets travel requirements for international flights. While we do offer the POC (point of care) RT-PCR test by Accula  with results in an 1-3hrs, please only choose that for travel if your travel documents state that this test is acceptable, otherwise choose our same or next day option.

Do you test children?

We can test anyone over the age of 2.  If you are under the age of 18, you should be with a parent or guardian.

Which test do you use?

For international flight clearance we use RT-PCR tests from  high complexity CAP accredited labs as well as the Accula point of care rapid RT-PCR test from our CLIA waived lab.  These results are back same or next day.

RT-PCR from high complexity lab based RT-PCR

For the high complexity lab based RT-PCR test, real-time PCR assays are designed to detect the presence of clinically relevant organisms (with 99.99% confidence). All tests are established and validated by our CAP accredited, CLIA waived laboratory. The DTPM COVID-19 RT-PCR Test has not been FDA cleared or approved; it has been authorized by FDA under EUA200086 for use by authorized laboratories; it has been authorized only for detection of nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2, not for any other viruses or pathogens; and it is only authorized for the duration of the declaration that circumstances exist justifying the authorization of emergency use of in vitro diagnostics for the detection and/or diagnosis of COVID-19 under Section 564(b)(1) of the Act, 21 U.S.C. § 360bbb-b(b)(1), unless the authorization is terminated or revoked sooner.

Rapid RT-PCR from CLIA waived lab

DMCT also offers the Accula in house rapid RT-PCR test that can be used for international travel in some locations. It is your responsibility to determine if the rapid in house Accula test is sufficient for travel to your location.

The Accula Rapid RT-PCR (point of care testing) provided by our CLIA based lab is  performed on the Accula Dock or the Silaris™ Dock and is a molecular in vitro diagnostic test utilizing polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and lateral flow technologies for the qualitative, visual detection of nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2 in clinician-collected nasal or nasal mid-turbinate swab specimens or clinician-instructed self-collected (collected on site) nasal swab specimens, collected from individuals suspected of COVID-19 by their healthcare provider. Testing is limited to laboratories certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA), 42 U.S.C. §263a, that meet requirements to perform high, moderate, or waived complexity tests. The Accula SARS-CoV-2 Test is authorized for use at the Point of Care (POC), i.e., in patient care settings operating under a CLIA Certificate of Waiver, Certificate of Compliance, or Certificate of Accreditation. Accula SARS-CoV-2 Test results are for the identification of SARS-CoV-2 RNA. The SARS-CoV-2 RNA is generally detectable in upper respiratory specimens during the acute phase of infection. Positive results are indicative of the presence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA; clinical correlation with patient history and other diagnostic information is necessary to determine patient infection status. Positive results do not rule out bacterial infection or co-infection with other viruses. Negative results do not preclude SARS-CoV-2 infection and should not be used as the sole basis for patient management decisions. Negative results must be combined with clinical observations, patient history, and epidemiological information. The Accula SARS-CoV-2 Test is intended for use by trained operators who are proficient in performing tests on the Accula Dock and Silaris Dock. The Accula SARS-CoV-2 Test is only for use under the Food and Drug Administration’s Emergency Use Authorization.

DMCT offers Rapid Antigen testing

 Rapid Antigen

 For rapid antigen testing:

The rapid COVID-19 Antigen Test is FDA Emergency Use Authorized,

CLIA Waived, Sienna COVID 19 Antigen Test.  For more information about this test please go to https://www.fda.gov/media/149054/download.

Do you complete travel forms?

We notice that most countries do not require forms for international travel but some do.  It is your responsibility as the traveler to determine what forms are needed.  If you need additional forms completed please send an email to info@dmcovid19test.com describing the form and needed information prior to testing with us.  Additional fees will apply to complete forms if we are able to complete it.
